Belgian chocolates' historyThe famous Belgian Chocolates are called : " praline " and " ballotin ". From the beginning of its history in Belgium, Belgian chocolates were considered as a gift. In 1912, the Belgian confectionery created the " praline ", a filled type of Belgian chocolates : a mouthful which perfectly complied with its gift vocation. To protect the delicate nature of the " praline " Belgian chocolates, an adequate packaging has been patented under the name of " Ballotin ". Since that time the " ballotin de pralines " became the perfect gift appreciated in all circumstances for Belgian chocolates. Belgian chocolate truffles definedA chocolate truffle is a bite-sized petit four, made from chocolate and ganache to which flavourings have been added, such as liqueurs or essences. Truffle mixtures can be piped in balls or long strands, rolled in cocoa powder, icing sugar or dipped in covertures. They are named after the truffles found in the ground, resembling the rough, dark shape and color. |
