Being a big fan of Jamie Oliver, just because the passion he shows when he is cooking, I was wondering how original he was when he came up with naming himself the naked chef?

Of course that would get everybody’s attention, mainly for the wrong reason, but was he the first to cook up a storm like this?

If you are only into cooking and good food, maybe you don’t know Mike Rowe.

Well, he hosts "Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe" on Discovery Channel. A show about jobs you wouldn’t dream of on a clean sunny day like roadkill-removal specialists, bat biologists or professionals who determine the sex of chickens. Although the latter is not that dirty as it sounds.

Before Dirty Jobs, Discovery sent Mike Rowe to the Valley of the Golden Mummies to host Egypt Week Live!

From Egypt, Mike traveled to the Bering Sea for the filming of Deadliest Catch, the network’s series on Alaskan crab fishing, a profession widely considered to be the most dangerous in the world. Yet I just love to watch this show about Alaskan crab fishing, well, I love to cook and eat crabs

And talking about fish: Mike Rowe is also portrayed in the MMRPG video game World of Warcraft as "Dirty" Michael Crowe: a fish vendor.

I love Jamie Oliver for how he can cook up a storm and speak about it as if it is a royal’s meal. Yet sometimes Jamie Oliver’s words come out not the way he intended (or did he? …)

Jamie Oliver, well know of course from The Naked Chef and Angelina Jolie equally famous wife of Mister Pitt had kind of a "misunderstanding".

All started when nice celebrity chef Jamie Oliver watched Angelina Jolie’s Beowulf and had to ring the actress up.

While Jamie was blushing not to mention Angelina Jolie’s hotness in the movie, our chef did what he does best: cooking up a storm with a split of the tongue by calling Angelina and Brad Pitt’s daughter “Piloh Shit” instead of “Shiloh Pitt.”

Now knowing Jamie Oliver, does he do things like that on purpose or not?

Both Bunga Citra Lestari and Kuih are very sweet! We are talking here about an Indonesian or Malaysian treat.

And best off all: you can make this sweet treat yourself!

Describing Bunga Citra Lestari and Kuih Recipes

This rich and sticky Kuih makes use of glutinous rice filled with sweet coconut filling and wrapped in banana leaf.

Surprise your family with this afternoon treat and a great cup of tea or coffee.

Kuih Recipe Ingredients

180g (6 oz) glutinous rice, soaked overnight or at least for 6 hrs
½ coconut, to yield 250 ml (1 cup) coconut milk and mix with ½ tsp salt
2 tbsp grated coconut, without skin
¼ pc of palm sugar or gula melaka
30g (1 oz) granulated sugar
2 tbsp water
1 pc of pandan leaf or screwpine leaf
8 pcs of banana leaves

Kuih Recipe Preparation

Prepare steamer by boiling water.
Wash the glutinous rice and strain.
Place tray on steamer and steam for 5 minutes.
Add enough coconut milk to cover the rice. Mix well.
Steam again till it is cooked for about 20-25 minutes.
Check from time to time and stir and add coconut milk if necessary.

To prepare Kuih filling

Dissolve sugars.
Add grated coconut and pandan leaf.
Cook till the mixture is soft and dry.
Remove from heat and let it cool.

To prepare the Kuih

Soften banana leaves by dipping into boiling water for at least 30sec.
Put 1 tbsp cooked glutinous rice on banana leaf.
Add 1 tsp filling on top of the rice.
Fold both ends of the leaf over the Kuih, ensure that the top is slightly open to show a bit of the filling.
Fold both ends downwards.
When all the mixture is used up, serve Kuih on a plate.

That’s exactly what I did, and I look 10 years younger and quite, well… judge for yourself!

How to get a free virtual makeover

It’s quite easy: all you need to do is:

have a picture of yourself ready and
sign up to start your virtual makeover.

First I was a bit confused: I uploaded my picture in my personal profile. Of course that’s your avatar or logo and will never change.

You need to go to "Start Your Makeover" and only then upload your picture.

The first step will be telling the program where your eyes, hair, mouth and face is located in your picture. Again I was already trying to tell the program where my eyes should be… Wrong! At this stage you point out in your picture where you would like to make changes in step 2!

Yes, in step 2 the real fun starts. On the spot I added some hair on my bald head, tried some accessories (but that’s not really me), added a face blush and some lipstick. The latter makes me a metro-sexual for 1 day it seems…

Last but not least I managed to hide my real glasses with some branded sunglasses.

How Beppe Grillo gets fresh organic milk in your coffee

I just read this one in a very old blog post of Beppo Grillo, but it’s a step in the good direction to get some fresh milk for a decent price. Gosh, I would love to be in Italy and bring my cup of coffee to these cows to get a fresh cafe latte!

Ok, what’s the coffee fuzz and buzz about?

According to Beppe Grillo:

The milk is produced from cows fed on non-GM food.
The price of the fresh milk is 1 euro per litre (30 cents less than the supermarket price for a similar product)
Turn up with your glass bottle fill up and off you go!
You can also fill up with quantities valued 25 cents and 50 cents.
After 24 hours, the milk remaining undistributed is used to make ricotta and other cheeses.

GM is not a brand of cars but stands for Genetically Modified.

Genetically modified: I can live with that, as long as the genetically modification makes the plants resistant to natural diseases and not Like Monsanto’s genetically modified soy that’s only resistant to… Monsanto’s pesticides and herbicides.

But what I would pay to have a cow just eating normal grass and drinking cows milk from cows grazing on grass. Do I really have to travel all the way to Argentina to get an organic cafe latte?

This world is getting more and more nuts. Unfortunately these nuts are not meant to make coffee…
